The Final Day in Granada
The race finished on Sunday 13 September with a 112-kilometre stage that started and finished in Granada. With a lead of more than two minutes, Mas and his Movistar team rode safely through the stage to seal the overall title.
A Win Years in the Making
Mas had finished second at the Vuelta three times — in 2018, 2021 and 2022 — and had become one of the most consistent Grand Tour riders of his generation without a win. Beating Roglič, a multiple Vuelta champion, makes the victory especially meaningful.
Spain's Home Hero
The last Spanish rider to win the Vuelta was Alberto Contador in 2014. Mas's victory ends that wait and gives Spanish cycling a major lift, particularly for Movistar, the country's leading WorldTour team.
